Aluminum machining has posed difficulties with water-soluble coolants. Due to very odd physical and chemical nature of Aluminum, water does not suit for machining.
Normal coolants causes Aluminum lose its luster. Conventional practice of machining of Aluminum is to use kerosene or honing oils though they have half cooling capacity, hazards of fire and skin rashes. It is conventional type mineral based cutting oil with spontaneous thick milky emulsion, but unlike other mineral based cutting oils, it is even miscible in hard water upto 550 ppm hardness.
